Ms. Kate Purcell, MAPS
Child & Adolescent Psychologist
Kate Purcell is a registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), based in Newcastle. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours Class I). Kate is also a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS). She is also currently undertaking her Clinical Masters to gain endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
Kate is passionate about creating a values-based, inclusive, and caring environment where clients feel seen and supported, working together with them wherever they are in their journey. She takes a neuroaffirming and brain-based approach when working with people who are neurodiverse or experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma related symptoms.
Kate is trained in and utilises a range of evidence-based interventions including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) , Play Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Biofeedback techniques (such as Heart Rate Variability). Additionally, she has a great understanding of the impact our nervous system, attachment, and development have on us as children, teens, and adults.
